About MIA

Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting my site, and getting to know me!

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and attended the University of Iowa where I received my BA in Cinematic Arts and Comparative Literature. It has been a life long dream of mine to live near both the mountains and the ocean. I made that dream a reality and moved to San Diego, CA in the spring of 2019.

Besides spending a big chunk of my time cooking for MWM, I am also a freelance photographer, videographer (you can check out my demo reel here!), and a full-time nanny. I’m passionate about saving our environment, which is what sparked my change to a vegetarian diet back in 2011. As you may notice, all recipes on Munchies with Mia are meatless, and many are also vegan! I am an advocate for mental health, love to hike, and spend my down time binge watching something on Netflix in the company of my cat, Archie.

My favorite food is pizza because of the endless options you can create on a piece of good dough🍕.
